Tech Studio is a partner of SURGE Columbus. SURGE Columbus is a collaborative of museums, libraries, and media organizations in Columbus, Ohio empowering teens to discover and pursue their learning interests outside of school by connecting them with mentors, digital and cultural resources, and each other.
Participants will learn to use Autodesk’s 123D design software for 3D modeling and will create a 3D model of their design. Additionally, 3D printing basics will be discussed, and Tech Studio 3D printers will be on display. Recommended for 5th grade and up.

Participants will work with the DSLR cameras and learn basic camera functions: shutter speed, aperture, ISO, frame rates. Using these functions, they will learn to light, frame, shoot, and capture audio for a documentary-style interview. Additionally, participants will explore Adobe’s Premiere software for video editing. Recommended for 5th grade and up.

Using Apple’s Logic Pro X software, participants will learn to create music with virtual instruments (midi controllers) and will explore Hydrogen, a free drum machine application. Recommended for 5th grade and up.

Participants will receive an introduction to the Arduino language (a branch of C/C++) in order to construct basic circuits using the Arduino Uno controller and solderless breadboard. They will also write code to take input from sensors to control LED lights. Recommended for 5th grade and up.
